Life Lately or Birthdays Galore

The New Year has come, and life has turned crazy. Seriously, January has been insanely busy, but only with super fun family things so I am not complaining. January is birthday central for our family. Like 5 immediate family members and 2 close friends. Wowzers. Our weekends have been filled with family time, and I wouldn't change a minute of it!

Two weekends ago, (yes I am far behind on documenting this journey called life, but life got busy), we celebrated Bubba's sister's birthday. We had a great time eating which is my favorite hobby and just hanging out. We laugh an insane amount when all together, and this weekend was no different. Bubba's dad may or may not have busted into a rap at dinner. I can't confirm this for sure as I have been sworn to secrecy. Also,   our waitress refused to sing the annoying restaurant birthday song for fear of the birthday girl. Totally, a fun time. I am so, so blessed to have such great in-laws, and we had such a great time celebrating Rebecca. Because she is pretty darn great. (I only wish I had taken pictures!)

Last week, we hunkered down in the freezing cold weather. See evidence of snow. And we were getting ready for rounds 3 and 4 of birthday celebrations. We headed up to Nashville over the long weekend to celebrate Caroline's 1st Birthday, which happened to be on John's birthday weekend. Don't be fooled everyone was there for Caroline. :).  We spent the night Friday with Bubba's parents, and were totally given the royal treatment. I cannot complain, it was quite lovely. Then Saturday, we drove the rest of the way to see Baby C!

Saturday night, we took a brief break to celebrate John's Birthday. It was incredibly fun. My brother is one of the funniest people ever, the other funniest being his wife so we had a good time. Exhibit A: The Birthday Boy:

You know just in Emily's night gown.
Sunday was ALL about this precious girl. Caroline is such a fun addition to our family. We love her so much. I truly CANNOT believe that she is about to be one. That is so old. She is so smart and happy. We just love her. She had an Alice in ONEderland Tea Party.  It was absolutely adorable. Emily is so creative and did a fabulous job with all the details!

Dressed as Alice

SMASH!

The birthdays are continuing this week and weekend, but this is a great place to say... To be Continued. Oh and Happy Birthday: Rebecca, John, and Caroline!

Friends, Family, and Fun Times!

Wow! What a weekend! I am sad that it is Monday, which of course starts the weekly countdown to Friday.  This past Friday I had a much needed Girls' Night with Sara, Susan, A Fri, Whit, Lesley, and Emily, who was in town visiting. I failed to take a picture and that was my bad.  We went to Babalu and had a great time yelling at each other. I love the food, but it is always so loud so in order to get in good conversation you have to use your outdoor voice. It was so much fun though to hangout and visit. I am really glad that Emily came up for a visit and cannot wait to go down to BR to visit her.

Saturday morning involved some chores and some serious needed cleaning. I swear that the amount of laundry that we produce in a week is absurd. I also began watching Friday Night Lights on Netflix. It is amazing. I know that I am about 3-4 years behind the trend of loving this show but it is fantastic. I am already addicted and need to know what ever will happen to the Dillon Panthers.  Saturday afternoon, we picked up the girls and headed to the MS Museum of Natural Science. We met Sara and Baby Walker, and we all had a blast.

LOVE this pose!

The girls spent the night, and we ate pizza and had a movie night in a blanket fort made by the two uncles. I think it was more enjoyment for them than the girls! This next picture about melts my heart. Bubba and his girl have a special bond you know being middle children and all. So sweet...

We took the girls home on Sunday and went to church. It was a great Sunday. After running some errands, we chilled at home. Ate Mexican stack ups and took Gert for a walk. And had a good impromptu visit from our friend Ryan.

Life is good. :)

The Big 0-6!

Happy Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!! Our niece is turning the big 6! She is one of my very favorite nieces... top 4 for sure ;). We are so proud of her and love her to pieces. Here are some things that we simply love about our girl:

She is a mini adult. Ever since I have known her she can carry on the best conversations with me. She takes things seriously, but can laugh so hard that it is infectious.

She has her uncle pretty whooped. He loves his girls something fierce.

She has just the right amount of swag. Sister can rock my heels better than I can and out accessorize a Kardashian. Yet she is a lady at all times.

She is happy and fun. And we ALWAYS have fun with her.

She is the best niece, and we love her so much! Happy Birthday Girl!!! 6 is gonna be a great year for sure.  We just know it.

LOVE YOU!!!

Weekend Recap

I wanted to post about our fun weekend last weekend. I realize now that we are about as close to this upcoming weekend as we are to the last. But, it was a great weekend and needs to be recorded for posterity.

Bubba and I traveled home to my parent's house to celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day. (I may not be punctual, but I do love my parents). We ate great food and spent some good quality time on the back porch.  Food and sitting are my two favorite activities to do at home. Which does make me seem like a glutton, but y'all. Nothing beats Louisiana food. If you disagree, you are just wrong and I am sorry. My dad also used us for some cheap slave labor. I don't judge him. It was smart and cunning.

Being at home also made me miss my brother and his family. In just two weeks, I will get to get my hands on this little baby.  C is precious. And I do believe Kate Middleton would approve of this hat.

After eating and sitting a bunch, we came on home, and I had a much needed pool day with friends. I have the best friends in the whole world, and if you disagree, well, you are wrong. :)  Nothing is more fun to do in Summer than sit outside when it is hot as blazes and talk about world affairs. You know the kind...Suri Cruise and her fashion sense, Dance Moms, the Bachelorette, and all things in Us Weekly. It was a great time of "serious" conversation mixed with an intense "swim workout" or maybe just sitting in the pool and talking.

Continuing with the theme of summer, I am ashamed to admit I ate peach cobbler three times at home (one time may have been breakfast), then I came home and made one with the peaches that Bubba's sister gave us.  YUM.  I declare it is so good I may just die.

This week has been a good one so far. We have been playing hard in those extra hours of light when it cools down to a frigid 93 degrees.

Could the Trio be any more cute. Bows and 4-wheelers.
Lastly, on what has been the longest post on nothing ever... A Gert story.  This dog is not afraid of "The Beast" next door, but is terrified of the vacuum. I found her hiding here.  Weird dog.  Just like her Mama.

Safety in Numbers.
Hope your week is just grand. Looking forward to this weekend when we are headed to Bubba's parent's house. I believe there is more eating and sitting in my future. Life is good.

Circus Fun with the Trio!

On Thursday night, Bubba and I had so much fun taking our nieces to the Circus with Bubba's mama!  It was a blast!  I am not sure who was more excited...me or the almost 6, 3 and 1/2, and 1 year old.  I felt like I was reliving my childhood.  And shockingly, I still thought it would be so much fun to be a (humane) Elephant Trainer.  I met a circus elephant when I was little named Shirley, and I have been fascinated ever since.  They are just so adorable.  Well, The girls had a blast and were enamored with the sights, sounds, and sugar.  I think that between the three of us (we avoided a sugar high for the baby) we did our best to catch diabetes.

We are excited!

The trio.

The girls are such a huge part of our lives. (In fact, Bubba earned his nickname from these lovely ladies). We are so blessed to live so close to family. We try and get together all the time. The girls always make us laugh and just generally in a better mood. Life through the eyes of kid is always a little brighter. I laughed and laughed at the things they said about the circus. If their plans work out, we will have an acrobat and a dancer in the family. I wouldn't be sad at all about it!

Dancing Queen

Nana had fun too!

Best night! As you can se by the pictures :)
